[THE NUMINOUS PRESENCE]

The numinous presence
of a peanut butter jelly sandwich
entered my thought process
as I succumbed to the suggestion
that when the world was young
the stick people learned
how to spread themselves
over the landscape
by making a gesture
with their hands
releasing the appendages
otherwise known as tentacles
but the intended effect
did not come to fruition
the peanut butter sandwich
did not materialize
satisfaction was not imminent
we sat down and scrubbed
the slate clean
