The child was to be left alone, raised by the Red Auxiliary. I was to be sent.
My last days in the city were hummed by construction. The subway that old river. The billboard read “do you understand the language of traincars?” Children marveled when the new trains speared through the leaking tunnels. The city went electric again.
And finally I dreamed
Machines that chew on the mistakes of communism’s past and project clear lessons & enthusiasm for all involved. We will tour the country like a new circus, and put up the silver tent that sends word back to the sun. The sun’s time is the future, and unthinkable. The sundial’s image is return, and that’s thinkable. On the 1st nite, every atom screams its name. Its empty space is sound. The lights. Miss Grey took off her glasses and cried, she said, “God I just want to see us.” Messages from invisible sources. That’s what her kid said. And, “bad news, it’s just so blurry.” The blue jays made their way into the wire. The countryside was astonished, and gathered around the pasture. The carny was an electric man inside my pocket, and he waved hello, I’m dying
